Marie Phelan is an Irish Artist who works across research, works on paper, digital audio & video, site-specific engagement, and performance. Through methodologies ranging from intuitive mark-making to experimental sound and digital processes, her investigations are centered on identity and how we exist in the world today. By incorporating elements such as the human voice, organic materials, and the energetic qualities of place, she extend her explorations beyond physical and material boundaries.

Through performative collaboration she has created site-specific work at the RHA & The Lab Gallery in Dublin (2024), and Paragon Studios, Belfast (2023). She has held sonic activations in landscapes across Ireland, including the Hill of Allen, Co. Kildare (2023); Dowth Hall, Co. Meath (2021); and Oweynagat Cave, Co. Roscommon (2020).

Marie was awarded the Digital Practice Award by Fire Station Artist Studios, Dublin in 2023. Past exhibitions include the Highlanes Gallery, Drogheda, Co. Louth (2023), Soul Noir Festival, Dublin (2023), 126 Gallery & Studios, Galway (2023). She was resident at Cill Rialaig Arts Centre, Kerry (2023) and Paragon Studios, Belfast (2022).

Her work has been supported by the Arts Council Ireland, and Carlow Arts Service. She holds an MA in Art and Research Collaboration through IADT.
